Montreal Dio is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev. Morgan Bell as the next Director of United Church Studies. Morgan is currently in ministry at St. Andrew’s United Church in downtown Toronto and is completing a Ph.D. in theological studies at the University of Toronto (Emmanuel College).
“Since integrating the work of the United Theological College into Dio in 2021 and 2022, our program has continued to grow and evolve to serve the changing needs of the church,” said the Rev. Dr. Jesse Zink, Dio’s Principal. “I’m looking forward to working with Morgan in the coming years to strengthen this program and continue to prepare students for transformative ministry in a hurting world.”
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to join Dio’s faculty as Director of United Church Studies,” said Bell. “I look forward to working to foster a space where theological scholarship, spiritual and pastoral formation, and an abiding commitment to vital Christian discipleship meet in service of The United Church of Canada and the wider church.”
Morgan earned a Master of Divinity from Emmanuel College in Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in French Studies from Trent University. Morgan has published widely in church-based and academic publications. He has taught at the Atlantic School of Theology and the Vancouver School of Theology. From 2017 to 2023, he was a member of the Roman Catholic – United Church National Dialogue.
Morgan will begin his new position in July 2025.

Le Séminaire diocésain de Montréal est fier d’annoncer la nomination du pasteur Morgan Bell au poste de directeur des Études de l’Église Unie. Morgan exerce actuellement un ministère à la St. Andrew’s United Church et termine des études de doctorat en théologie à l’Université de Toronto (Collège Emmanuel).
« Depuis l’intégration des activités du Séminaire Uni par le Séminaire diocésain en 2021 et 2022, notre programme n’a cessé de croître et d’évoluer pour servir les besoins en transformation de l’Église, affirme le pasteur et docteur en théologie Jesse Zink, directeur du Séminaire. Je suis impatient de travailler avec Morgan au cours des prochaines années afin de renforcer ce programme et de continuer à préparer des étudiantes et des étudiants à l’exercice d’un ministère transformateur dans notre monde en souffrance. »

Morgan détient une maîtrise en théologie du Collège Emmanuel de Toronto et un baccalauréat ès arts en études françaises de l’Université Trent. Il a publié des articles dans de nombreuses publications religieuses et universitaires. Il a enseigné à l’Atlantic School of Theology et à la Vancouver School of Theology. De 2017 à 2023, il a été membre du Dialogue entre l’Église catholique romaine et l’Église Unie.
Morgan entrera en poste en juillet 2025.
