How to Apply

Students in the Master of Divinity are co-enrolled in McGill University and Montreal Diocesan Theological College. Applicants must simultaneously apply to McGill and the college. McGill’s application form is available online and includes a $110 application fee.

Prerequisites

  • Transcripts of previous post-secondary study
  • A personal statement, about 500 words long indicating your reasons for applying to the Master of Divinity at Dio, what has prepared you for this study, and how you hope the program will help you meet your goals
  • Two letters of reference

Application Deadlines

  • Fall admission: June 15th
  • Winter admission: November 1st

Students in the Bachelor of Theology are co-enrolled in McGill University and Montreal Diocesan Theological College. Applicants must simultaneously apply to McGill and the college. McGill’s application form is available online and includes a $110 application fee.

Prerequisites

  • High school diploma with a minimum average of 75%, or the equivalent
  • OR a Diploma of Collegial Studies from a Quebec CEGEP with a minimum average of Cote R of 24

Application deadlines

Students in the Master of Sacred Theology are co-enrolled in McGill University and Montreal Diocesan Theological College. Applicants must simultaneously apply to McGill and the college. McGill’s application form is available online and includes a $110 application fee.

Prerequisites

  • A previous undergraduate degree (in any subject) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7

  • Transcripts of previous post-secondary study
  • A personal statement
  • Two letters of reference

Prerequisites

  • A previous degree in theological studies—including Bible, church history, theology, ethics, and other related subjects—at the undergraduate or graduate level

Application Requirements

  • You will have to demonstrate that your background has prepared you for the Diploma in MinistryContact us for more details about what might be considered sufficient preparation. In certain circumstances, we may ask you to enrol in one or more qualifying courses to round out your previous education and ensure you are prepared for the program.

No previous degree is required for admission to this program. Applicants will be asked to demonstrate an ability to complete work at an undergraduate university level as well as sufficient mastery of the English language. Admission to the program is contingent on the college’s ability to find an appropriate tutor for the student.

Prerequisites

  • Interest in ministry leadership and a call to ministry
  • Capacity for study at a post-secondary level in either English or French
  • Connection to the United Church (ie. United Church member, participant in an affiliated ministry or community of faith, candidate)
  • Readiness and capacity to serve in a supervised ministry field placement

Admission requirements are flexible for this program, so we encourage any interested individuals to reach out to us to see if it’s the right fit for you even if you do not meet the requirements below.  

Prerequisite

  • Students must be in the Candidacy Pathway of the United Church with a vocational call to ordained ministry.
  • Students may be ordained in another denomination but are not eligible to be admitted as Admission Ministers in the United Church.
  • Students typically have a Master of Divinity or equivalent degree from a theological college that is not a United Church Testamur granting institution.
  • Proof of French or English language proficiency may be required.
