The Rev. Dr. Jesse Zink
Principal

The Rev. Dr. Jesse Zink has been principal of Montreal Diocesan Theological College since August 2017. He oversees the life of the college, represents the college to its partners and the broader church, and teaches courses on mission and Anglicanism. Baptized in Canada and confirmed and ordained in the United States, he has worked in the Anglican Church of South Africa and the Church of England before his arrival in Montreal. Prior to ordination, he spent time variously as a DJ, a news reporter, and an ambulance driver.

In his spare time, he likes to spend time outdoors. He aspires to visit every park in Quebec’s fantastic network of national parks, Société des établissements de plein air du Québec.

Dr. Marc Potvin
Director of field education

Dr. Marc Potvin joined Dio in January 2024 as the Director of Field Education. He oversees students in their field placements, works with other colleges in the Montreal School of Theology to deliver the In Ministry Year, provides academic counselling to all students, and teaches courses on mission and pastoral care. Before joining us in Montreal, Dr. Potvin served for twenty years in the Canadian Armed Forces in the Air Force, Army, and as a military chaplain, worked in parish ministry for eighteen years, and, most recently, was the Pastoral Leaders Development Associate for the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

Dr. Alyson Huntly
Director of United church studies
Dr. Alyson Huntly
Director of United Church studies

Alyson Huntly was Director of Pastoral Studies at the United Theological College from 2011 to 2021. In 2021 she transitioned to the role of Director of United Church Studies at Dio. She oversees students in their field placements, works with other colleges in the Montreal School of Theology to deliver the In Ministry Year, provides academic and vocational counseling to students, and teaches education and United Church studies courses. She supports the recruitment of United Church students and ensures that United Church students meet requirements for United Church Testamur.

As a Diaconal Minister in the United Church of Canada, Alyson has served in ministries of education, pastoral leadership, and social justice within the United Church of Canada, in community development, and internationally. Prior to coming to Montreal, she was in congregational ministry in Ottawa while finishing her Ph.D.

Norman Robert Boie
Chaplain

Norman Robert Boie joined the Diocesan College team as Chaplain at the beginning of the 2022 academic year. He is a candidate towards ordained ministry in the United Church of Canada. His time is devoted to providing pastoral care to all members of the college community; preparing, organizing and managing logistics around college worship; and participating in other activities that contribute to the life and growth of the college.

Prior to his theological studies, Norman worked 20 years as a TV producer for Canal +, Astral Media and Quebecor; earlier still as a professional singer in musicals and opera; and as a teacher for the Quebec Ministry of Education.

Dr. Martin Bellerose
Director of French formation

Martin Bellerose has been the Director of French Formation for the United Church of Canada since 2022. In this role, he is affiliated with United Church Studies at Montreal Dio where he is in charge of French continuing education for lay people. His research and teaching centres are around the theology of migration, interculturality, and mission and patristics, specifically on Augustine of Hippo.

Jeroham deals with all things related to college publicity, and assists with fundraising and recruitment.

Clara Maranzano
French language instructor

Clara is responsible for the Certificate in Bilingual Ministry program and preparing degree students to minister in French and bilingual settings.

 

 

Alan Ma
Montreal Mission internship program director

Alan is responsible for facilitating the Montreal Mission Internship, a summer internship run out of Dio. This includes, hiring interns, arranging service placements, facilitating reflective programming, and guiding the interns throughout the summer.

The Rev. Prof. Patricia G. Kirkpatrick

HONORARY FACULTY

The Rev. Prof. Patricia G. Kirkpatrick is a professor of Old Testament at McGill University and a graduate of the college. She is an expert in oral composition and transmission of Old Testament narrative and a holder of a college honorary Doctorate. Ordained in the Diocese of Montreal, she has had a long and fruitful association with the college and its students.

Prof. Torrance Kirby

HONORARY FACULTY

Prof. Torrance Kirby is a professor of Ecclesiastical History at McGill University and an active member of the college community. An expert in the Reformation and the writings of Richard Hooker, his presence enlivens our common life.
