Montreal Diocesan Theological College (widely known as “Dio”) seeks a replacement for the position of College Administrator, a vital role in our college community. 

 The Administrator is responsible to the Principal and is part of a staff team that works collaboratively to ensure the College pursues its mission with excellence.  

 The major responsibilities of the position include: 

  • Senior administration and governance support: serve as assistant to the Principal and recording secretary for certain college committees. 
  • Reception: serving as first point of contact for enquiries to the college whether by phone, email or in person.  
  • Activities and events: provide logistical and other support for events, including weekly community meals and Convocation.  
  • Prospective student, student and alumni support: support of all aspects of the college admission process; support the financial aid process; prepare transcripts; and update alumni database. 
  • Financial operations: in collaboration with Principal and Bookkeeper, manage the invoicing and payment system for college tuition and other payments; make entries in college accounting software  
  • General administrative support: serve as office manager of College; liase with McGill Housing to ensure necessary maintenance of building; maintain physical and electronic files; and provide practical support to staff to ensure they can carry out their work 
  • Serve as administrator of Microsoft Office account 
  • Other: participate in staff meetings, contribute to discussions and decisions, and take on other projects and necessities as the need arises.

The administrator must have excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to work appropriately with confidential information. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary, preferably with experience as an administrator of an Office account. Much of our college life takes place in English, but the administrator needs to be able to communicate with prospective students and others in French. Candidates with experience of QuickBooks are especially welcome. We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in an office or educational environment, who is sympathetic to our vision and mission and is able to make an immediate contribution to our life. 

This is a full-time position. Compensation will be based on an individual’s experience and background but the salary range is between $50,000 to $55,000. Compensation also includes a competitive package of benefits, including supplemental health and dental plans, and pension. The hours worked are usually within normal business hours but the exact schedule is to be negotiated. It is anticipated that the vast majority of hours will be worked on site at the college, with the possibility for a small amount of work from home.

Founded in 1873, we train people for Christian ministry in the Anglican and other related traditions. Since 2021, we have worked closely with the United Theological College and now offer programs for United Church students as well.
