Journey into Exile: A Lenten Day of Embodied Reflection at a Time of Global Migration

One-day workshop

Saturday, April 5th, 2025, 9:00am to 4:00pm

From students moving to study in other countries to asylum seekers looking for safety, from lawyers and bankers traveling across the world for business to climate refugees looking for a new home, societies around the world are being transformed by human migration. This movement brings with it many benefits but also raises new questions and challenges not only for those on the move but also for those who welcome them. In the midst of this widespread societal transformation, what role are Christians called to play and what does the Christian tradition have to say about migration?

This one-day workshop is a chance to increase your knowledge about human migration and deepen your reflection about how Christians are called to respond. The centre-piece of the day is a simulation exercise in which participants will get to inhabit the identity of a migrant from a different part of the world and role-play the opportunities and challenges they face. The day also includes discussion, and teaching on what the Bible says about migration and reflection about where we come from and the places we call home.
