Reflections from the Student Council President

YoungJae Lee, M. Div. Student

Serving as Student Council President this year has been a privilege and a joy. I’ve seen how connection and delight flourish when students come together—to laugh, share stories, and take a break from academic demands. Though we come from diverse traditions and cultures, we’ve sat together at Dio, walking side by side on the shared pilgrimage of discerning our vocations.

We also created space for joy and fun—hiking through fall colours at Parc National d’Oka, tasting fresh apple donuts and local cheese; exploring Montreal Comic-Con; skating together in March; and joining the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Our Advent service, game night, and United Church evenings opened space for laughter, reflection, and deeper conversation.

In all these moments, something beautiful took shape: though many, we became one in Christ—companions in faith, learning to care for one another as Christ calls us to.

Looking back, I’m deeply grateful— for the laughter, the prayers , and the countless small mercies.

I felt God’s presence with us. And now I pray that what we’ve planted will keep growing, guided by the Holy Spirit, wherever our journeys lead.
