Discerning a new vocation at Montreal Dio

Fresia Saborio, B.Th. 2020

When Fresia Saborio was searching for a university fellowship in bioethics, she came across McGill University’s School of Religious Studies and its theology programs. Intrigued by the possibility of studying theology, she decided to apply. Happily, she was offered admission to the Bachelor of Theology, and she and her daughter moved from Costa Rica to Montreal.

When she entered the program, Fresia had little knowledge of theology, much less the three denominational colleges that make up the Montreal School of Theology. Prompted by a question from an academic advisor about her affiliate college, she started to explore the college, realizing that theology without prayer and community would not nurture her spirituality. After one semester, Fresia felt called to Montreal Dio to further her faith journey.

Fresia continues to explore her vocation, although hospital chaplaincy may reveal itself to be a true calling given her education and experience in medicine. She is grateful for the supportive community she has discovered at Montreal Dio, and rejoices that she is able to walk this path while staying close to her daughter, who is also now a student at McGill.
