A Model of Gracious Vulnerability: French for Ministry Intensive 2023

La version française est disponible.

The week of May 5th, Dio’s French Language Instructor Clara Maranzano led a French for Ministry Intensive. The intensive course builds on students’ existing language of French to focus on providing participants with French-language vocabulary for pastoral ministry through teaching, role plays, written assignments, and tests. Not only was it a linguistically formative week that successfully prepared all five students to attain a Certificate in Bilingual Ministry, but it was also a rich time of ecumenical dialogue. Jessica Stilwell, a graduate of the intensive who is both a warden at St. Matthias Anglican Church and an employee at Westmount Park United, described the intensive week as “a space of co-creation and of wrestling… and a model for how intentional, gracious vulnerability and genuine curiosity are central to building up the (ecumenical) Body of Christ.” The joy of the participants and depth of learning was palpable around the college throughout the week. We look forward to hosting another group the week of May 6th, 2024. Any interested individual can find more information at www.montrealdio.ca/bilingual.
